Bedfordshire adults encouraged to live healthier in 2022 with free weight management webinar

A local provider of clinically proven weight management programmes is encouraging Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes residents to make positive changes to their lifestyle, starting by taking part in a free information webinar on February 22nd at 6pm.

It is reported that almost two in three UK adults (63%) are currently overweight or living with obesity, and in 2019/20 there were over 6,500 hospital admissions in Bedfordshire & Milton Keynes where obesity was classed as a factor.

MoreLife have provided weight management and healthy lifestyle programmes driven by clinical experts for over 20 years, and the free information webinar encourages Bedfordshire adults living with obesity to take better care of their health in 2022.

The live session will provide an introduction to key topics such as eating habits and understanding food labelling, while sharing further information about how local adults can engage with MoreLife’s free face-to-face and digital adult weight management programmes.

Chris Dart, 57, Bedford

Grace Shiplee, Contract Manager in Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes, said: “Something which has been significantly highlighted over the past couple of years as a result of the pandemic is that it is incredibly important to look after our own health and wellbeing. By supporting people effectively throughout the pandemic, we have been able to think outside the box and change the way we support people moving forward.

“We now have multiple ways for people to engage with our service in Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes, including digital only programmes, online sessions and face to face sessions in community settings. We believe we are now in a better place to help more people make the changes they need to make a big difference to their health.”

Driven by evidence from Leeds Beckett University, MoreLife has already supported hundreds of local residents to make sustainable changes through an evidence-driven 12-week programme.

Chris Dart, aged 57 from Bedford, joined the MoreLife programme in 2020 and commented how the expert advice has helped her lose 5 stone and make lasting changes to her lifestyle.

She said, “The most beneficial part of the programme was the support from the team and my group. The handbook was amazing too. I’m now more aware of the reasons why I eat and the nutrition side of it- I’m confident this is me now!

I absolutely would recommend the programme. When I’ve met up with people I haven’t since lockdown, they don’t recognise me.”
