The client has been dieting for about 30 years, attending programmes including Slimming World and Rosemary Conley. She had also tried other approaches such as gastric band hypnosis, laxatives and slimming pills. She found that the weight would come off and then inevitably go straight back on with a few extra pounds.
“I have been overweight my entire life. I became used to the name calling and being described as the big girl.”
The client wasn’t aware of how much these challenges had affected her until her children were grown up. With more time on her hands, she began to question herself, asking whether she’d been a good Mum, whether her husband still noticed her. She hated herself, her confidence was at an all time low and she turned to food to comfort her. The client was getting bigger and bigger and eventually she realised “enough was enough.”
She joined the MoreLife programme to help her lose weight, improve her confidence and overall health and to deal with her emotional eating. At first she was nervous, sacred of failing again however as soon as she stepped in the door;
“The loveliest and most supportive man greeted me with kindness and compassion and has continued to do so throughout my journey so far.”
She now looks forward to the meetings and feels connected to the group members, all of whom are facing similar hurdles to her. She is no longer scared of facing challenges, her anxiety levels have decreased massively and she’s starting to enjoy my life with a completely different outlook. Through making changes to her diet and lifestyle, after just 3 months of the programme, she had lost over 30lbs (13.8 kg) in weight:
"I am proud of what I have achieved so far and I am excited for the future, bumpy roads and all."
