All our models adopt a holistic approach and offer flexible delivery methods, including face-to-face, virtual sessions via Microsoft Teams, and hybrid options, ensuring they meet the diverse needs of participants and families. We offer:

Tier 2 Specialist Child Weight Management
Purpose: To support children and families in making sustained lifestyle and dietary changes.
Target Group: Children and young people above the healthy weight range requiring foundational support (91st Percentile and above).

Interactive physical activities and psycho-educational workshops on healthy eating and behaviour change. Our group-based approach cultivates peer support, fostering relationships and building community with children from the same area to build lasting friendships.
Family Involvement
Nutritional and psychoeducational workshops for parents, reinforcing a family-centered approach. Sessions for parents break stigma, create nonjudgmental environments and provide them with a platform of support from our expert staff as well as promoting peer support and shared learning.

Our Tier 2 programme is delivered over 10 weeks. Weekly sessions invite the eligible child, their siblings, parents, and wider family to engage with a different topic each week. Our approach draws on experiential learning theory, adventure therapy and storytelling to promote comprehension and reflective practice, this approach is immersive and engaging. In line with NICE guidance, topics include:

Tier 3 Specialist Child Weight Management
Purpose: To provide intensive, multidisciplinary care for children with complex obesity-related needs.

The MDT works collaboratively, holding bi-weekly meetings to review client progress, address challenges, and refine intervention strategies. Shared care plans are co-developed with input from all team members and families to fully address physical, psychological, and social needs.

Assessment Process
A comprehensive assessment process is central to the Tier 3 Child Weight Management programme, ensuring personalised, holistic care for every child and their family. Assessments are designed to address the medical, psychological, and social dimensions of obesity, providing a robust foundation for effective interventions.
Medical Assessments:
Conducted by pediatric nurses, these include baseline measurements such as:

Blood Tests
Where clinically appropriate and/or indicated, tests for conditions like prediabetes or nutrient deficiencies may be requested and assessed.

Psychological Assessments:
Delivered by psychologists or trained practitioners, these assessments focus on:
Emotional triggers for overeating, self-esteem issues, and body image concerns.
Screening for mental health conditions (e.g., anxiety, depression) using validated tools such as the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), Harter Self Perception Profile for Children or the Children’s Depression Inventory (CDI), Good Childhood Index.
Input from the child and family is used to set behaviour change goals, tailored to individual needs.
Social & Lifestyle Assessments:
Assess family dynamics, cultural influences, and environmental barriers such as financial constraints or access to healthy food and activities.
Tools such as the CPAQ, Child Eating Behaviour Questionnaire, Family Assessment Device (FAD) help explore family roles and interactions.
Additional behaviours monitored include screen time and sleep quantity/quality.
Outcome:
The assessment process culminates in a shared care plan co-developed by the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), child, and family. This plan includes specific, measurable goals for weight, dietary changes, physical activity, and mental well-being.
