If you want to make a difference in the lives of overweight and obese children, at the same time as having fun, making new friends and taking on a challenging but rewarding experience, then you are in the right place.

MoreLife are leaders in the treatment of childhood obesity and have a range of evidence-based programmes that provide positive experiences for children trying to lose weight. One of these programmes is our residential camp for children aged 8-17, held at Woodhouse Grove School in Leeds, West Yorkshire. The programme began in 1999 and has supported overweight and obese children every summer since. This year's residential camp will be running during the school summer holidays. Staff will be required to participate in a compulsory training programme prior to the camp starting in July. Further information about the camp can be found at www.morelifecamp.co.uk

ALL RESIDENTIAL STAFF ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND STAFF TRAINING FROM THURSDAY 20TH JULY - SUNDAY 23RD JULY. CAMP WILL RUN FROM 23RD JULY - 26TH AUGUST, YOU MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR THIS TIME.

Group Staff

Our campers are split into four groups (Upper Girls, Lower Girls, Upper Boys and Lower Boys). The Lowers are typically children aged 8-12 and the Uppers are typically children aged 13-17. Each group of campers has a team of staff dedicated to delivering their sessions and ensuring the provision of excellent pastoral care. This team of staff consists of a Group Leader, Physical Activity Leaders and a Healthy Lifestyle Leader. Further information on each of these roles can be seen below. Any one interested in these roles will be required to commit to the full 5 weeks as a residential member of staff. Food and accommodation will be provided for free for the duration of the camp. 

Physical Activity Leaders

The Physical Activity Leader is responsible for delivering a range of fun and engaging activity sessions, supporting Healthy Lifestyle Leaders to deliver their sessions and providing pastoral care to our campers. Anyone applying for this role should have experience working with children, be studying towards or have a qualification in the relevant area and have experience delivering physical activity/classroom based sessions.

Healthy Lifestyle Leaders
The Healthy Lifestyle Leader is responsible for delivering a range of fun and engaging lifestyle sessions, supporting Physical Activity Leaders to deliver their sessions and providing pastoral care to our campers. Anyone applying for this role should have experience working with children, be studying towards or have a qualification in the relevant area and have experience delivering classroom based sessions.

ALL RESIDENTIAL STAFF ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND STAFF TRAINING FROM THURSDAY 20TH JULY - SUNDAY 23RD JULY. 

Nutrition/Dietetics Placement

We are looking to recruit a nutrition or dietetics student to carry out a 5 week voluntary placement on our summer camp. This placement student will support the nutritional and healthy lifestyle elements of the programme. The hours of work will be flexible but we would expect them to follow a Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm working pattern.

Purpose:
 To learn about MoreLife‚Äôs residential weight management programme for children and general approach to weight management, whilst supporting the delivery and efficient running of the lifestyles, food and monitoring elements of the camp programme.

Volunteer on Camp

Non-Residential Volunteer

Purpose: Effectively assist in the delivery of both lifestyle and activity sessions and provide pastoral care for the children.

Requirements: Individuals are required to be enthusiastic, creative, versatile, have a good sense of humour and work well as a team member. Previous experience or qualifications in any of the following: Nutrition, Dietetics, Education, Physical Education, Sport & Exercise is advantageous but not essential.

Working Pattern: Volunteer placements are non residential and are for a minimum of 2 weeks. The days of work are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and then either a Saturday or Sunday. There are 2 shifts available for volunteers, either the morning shift of 9.00am-3.30pm (lunch included) or 3.30pm-9.00pm (evening meal included). Please make your preferences clear when you apply.
