"MoreLife Founder to Chair National Childhood Obesity Summit" - 03 November 2016
Today, health professionals, charities, policymakers, business leaders and academics will join together at the Childhood Obesity Summit to outline the next steps to take after the widely-criticised Childhood Obesity Strategy was released by the government in August.
Professor Paul Gately, founder and director of MoreLife and Professor of Obesity and Exercise at Leeds Beckett University will act as chair for The Childhood Obesity Summit, held at the Royal Society in London. He will also deliver a lecture on how childhood obesity is best tackled through a Whole Systems Approach and take part in a panel debate on the topic.
The event will also feature speakers such as Chief Medical Officer, Dame Sally Davies, Dr Sarah Wollaston MP, Emma Reed from Department of Health and Guy Parker, Chief Executive of the Advertising Standards Agency as well as a number of key leaders from both public health and industry.
Professor Gately chairing this important summit demonstrates that both MoreLife and Leeds Beckett University are at the forefront of research and practice on this agenda. Paul said of the event, “I hope that the summit will lead to a greater consensus on next steps and lead to these different sectors working together to build upon the plans outlined by the government.”
